Course records could well be under threat at the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon when one of the best elite fields ever seen including three-time Olympic champion Kenenisa Bekele takes to the streets on Friday (23) for the IAAF Gold Label Road Race.

Organisers of the Russian Winter meeting have revealed the names of more athletes set to compete in the men's 60m hurdles at the IAAF Indoor Permit meeting in Moscow's CSKA arena on 1 February.

The Tokyo Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race and one of the six races that make up the World Marathon Majors series, announced on Thursday (22) its strongest ever men s elite fields for the race on 22 February.

It is the sad duty of the IAAF to announce the death of Gustav Schwenk (Germany), one of the best-known and most respected athletics journalists of all time. Gustav Schwenk died in D sseldorf aged 91 on Sunday (11).

US 100m champion Mike Rodgers will face former world 100m champion Kim Collins over 60m in Moscow on 1 February at the Russian Winter, an IAAF Indoor Permit meeting.
