23 October 2012 - The 1st IAAF World Cross Country Championships will celebrate their 40th anniversary when they are held in Bydgoszcz on 23 March next year. A look back to 1973 – when the new IAAF format replaced the International Cross Country Championships that had been run over the previous 70 years – offers a hugely different picture of an event which has been dominated in recent years by Kenyan and Ethiopian runners.
